ABOUT ME

Evolutionary Biologist

I am interested in understanding how plants got where they are. If you look closely, plant species are distributed in intriguing patterns that are yet to be fully explained.
For example, why do we find closely related species continents apart, spread over South America and Australia, but very different species in neighbouring valleys in the Andes? Can we find traits that allow plants to move more easily and spread their ranges?

I also hope to instil curiosity in the natural world through my teaching, and to educate for liberation.

Science should not and does not exist in a void. I aim to share the beauty of the natural world—both through images and through writing—as well as to help apply our scientific knowledge to broader decisions while also fighting for equity.
